Hey!!
Here's your answer

The French acquiring the land of Vietnam was of 2 reasons:

1. They wanted natural resources and production in the global market
2. They thought that it was the function of the developed European nations to make the developing nations modern.

This process of making the developing nations modern was called as civilising mission by the French. They introduced Science, Hygiene classes after school which need to be paid separately. They also established educational institutions for educated workforce requirement.

Hope it helps!!
Cheers!!
