Dr Verghese Kurien, the father of White revolution was a great visionary and social entrepreneur. He is famously remembered for his immense contribution and initiatives towards the dairy sector.
Dr Kurien started AMUL in Anand, Gujarat and made it a famous brand. He is credited of making a small town of Anand world wide famous. He transformed rural India and made it the largest producer of milk. His endless efforts has provided work and homes to thousands of rural Indians.
He generated employment in rural India and was invited by the Prime Minister of India in 1946 to replicate the model of AMUL across the country as this model was helping the farmers to enhance their economic condition. Operation Flood was implemented across India in three successive phases in 1970. This program made dairy farming the largest self sustaining industry and also the largest employment provider in the rural India.
