before the French Revolution the society was divided into the different estates.
there was 3 estates.

1). first estate

2). second estate

3). third estate

=>> First estate - The first estate include all those people who where belong to the church or the church activity. they were mainly Church Father, bishop, pope etc.
they were free from all types of taxes. even they had 60% of total land of France but yet they wear only 2% of total.
another word they live very luxurious life that was free from all the burden of taxes.

=>> Second estate - the 2nd estate include all those people who were rich and noble persons. they were also free from all the taxes and luxurious life.
they were also minor in the France population.

=>> third estate - the third estate include all those people who are not in the first estate and second estate. they were the common citizens of the France that was poor and live in aggression. all the tax were paid by the third estate.
and the gap between poor and rich become widen.

Note=> as III estate has all the burden of all taxes so the first and second estate were free from all taxes.
this was the major reason for the French Revolution.

even there was a different type of taxes.

•Thithe :- it was type of a tax that is used for the church maintenance or taken for the church. this tax was paid by third estate people.

•Taille :- this was the direct tax that was taken from the their estate people.

there was also salt tax, toll tax and many more taxes.
