• Mahatma Gandhi entered into a pact with Viceroy Irwin on 5 march 1931.

• By this pact , Gandhi consented to participate in the Second Round Table Conference in London and the government agreed to release the political prisoners.
• In December 1931 Gandhi went to London for the conference, but the negotiations broke down and he returned disappointed.

• After seeing the conditions in India Gandhi relaunched Civil Disobedience Movement in 1932.
