GANDHI IRWIN PACT

A pact was signed between the viceroy representing the British Indian Government, and Gandhi,representing the Indian people ,in Delhi on February 14 , 1931. This Delhi pact also known as Gandhi Irwin Pact . Placed the congress on an equal footing with the british government. Under its term government agreed to release all political prisoners except those charged with act of violence. The congress ,in tern , agreed to suspend the civil disobedience movement.

REASON FOR LAUNCHING CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE MOVEMENT

The British government in India had deprived the Indian people for their freedom .The British government ruined India economically ,politically, culturally. The people of India believes it to be crime against man and god to submit any longer ruler that has caused irreparable harm to Indian ecenomic .The congress therefore decline the attainment of complete independence as it aim in the Congress session held at lahore and decided to launch civil disobedience movement under the leadership of gandhiji
