Gillu’s favourite food was cashew.
Gillu was a small squirrel and it was injured by some crows. So, the author brought it home and took care of it. Gillu liked cashew and so it took cashew from the plate of Mahadevi and ate it.
It was waiting with cashew for her return from hospital, as a token of love. Though it is not mentioned directly in the story that Gillu likes cashew, we can understand it when it was eating happily from the plate of Mahadevi.
