The Green Revolution, or Third Agricultural Revolution, is a set of research technology transfer initiatives occurring between 1950 and the late 1960s, that increased agricultural production worldwide, particularly in the developing world, beginning most markedly in the late 1960s.[1] The initiatives resulted in the adoption of new technologies, including high-yielding varieties (HYVs) of cereals, especially dwarf wheats and rices, in association with chemical fertilizers and agro-chemicals, and with controlled water-supply (usually involving irrigation) and new methods of cultivation, including mechanization. All of these together were seen as a 'package of practices' to supersede 'traditional' technology and to be adopted as a whole.

3. Before Green revolution in india, there was always the dearth of the food grains. The overflowing Indian population was badly affected due to poor quality and quantity of food.

4. But due to green revolution, in india attention was focussed on the agricultural research.

5. Improvised dwarf varieties of weat and rice , proper use of fertilizers and pesticides and water management were the proper methods that increased production of food grains.

6. This created abundance of the grains for indian population.
