It was before 1900 that the petitions in U.P. could only be entertained in Urdu by law courts and officials but then from the year 1900 , petitions in Hindi also began to be considered on account of orders from supreme court which lead to a Muslim revolt .....

This came to be known as the Hindi Urdu controversy.
