THE ilbert bill proposed in 1883 allowed the Indian judges to try Europeans accused of crimes. But bcoz of strong oppositions from the Europeans and Anglo-Indians, the Bull had to be amended.
Due to this, Indians realised the need to form their own association to protect their interests.
