Allama Iqbal known as the national poet of Pakistan as well as a freedom fighter during the early days of Jinnah's struggles has indeed done practical efforts for the Muslim Ummah.

His greatest and most often mentioned effort was that of making the Muslims realize a need for a separate nation. Even though Sir Syed Ahmad gave the two nation theory, Iqbal was the one to make Muslims realize that it was indeed time to wake up from their long slumber and stand up for their rights. He helped the Muslims realise that they had to join together in unity against the outsiders.

"One of the famous word ""ummah"" mainly refers to Muslim religion. According to Quran the term Ummah is used for people to whom a saint sent by God.

Iqbal considers Ummah's quality of being involved in the world. Ummah accepts everything which is good and forbids the bad."
