Jhoom cultivation was also known as Shifting cultivation or slash-and-burn cultivation. In this type of cultivation, the tribals selected a patch of land and cleared it by cutting trees and then burning them. Then they cultivated the land for some years. When the yield from the field decreased, then they left that area and chose a new area.
