Answer:
The Khilafat movement was an agitation by Indian Muslims, allied with Indian nationalists, to pressure the British government to preserve the authority of the Ottoman Sultan as Caliph of Islam after World War I.
Explanation:
The growing indignation against the British rule led to the launching of the Khilafat and Non-Cooperation movement. Turkey had fought against Britain in the First World War. ... Therefore the movement over the question of the injustice done to Turkey was called the khilafat movement. It gave a call for non-cooperation.

Khilafat movement was started by Ali brothers(mohd Ali and Shaukat Ali) because they wanted that turkey should get back it’s position which was occupied by the bristish and the caliph should get back it’s position as they both were religious head of Muslims and any harm to the reputation of turkey and caliph would be like harm to Islam
This movement became the part of the non cooperation movement as Gandhi saw that this was the opportunity to help Muslims which would bring a sense of unity among Hindus and Muslims
