Helen was a blind girl deaf as well. She can't figure out what is happening in the surroundings. As we know to speak listening is must but she can't listen so how could she speak how would she communicate to others. And without communication the life becomes dull. She can't express what she want, what she needs etc... So the first word she learned (water) was first step to the learning for her.. After that she came to knew that every thing which exist has a name. After learning that she became eager to learn more. This step helped her in entering the new world...
