Lord Lytton was the viceroy of India from 1876 to 1880. He used to follow the repressive policies. 

There are various policies which he adopted in this terms. these are-----

@--- Vernacular Press Act {Gagging Act},1878
          This act was intended to prevent the vernacular press from expressing criticism of British policies.

@--- The Arms Act, 1878
         According to that act,it is crime for the Indian to carry arms without License. This act was not applicable to the Britishers.

These both acts are repealed by Lord Ripons.
