What was main aim of the Scholar's Revolt of 1868?

The main aim of scholar revolt was to stop Catholics missionaries which were spreading Christianity and converting people's religions. Due to spread of Christianity French control over Vietnam was increasing so the imperial of the court opposed it which resulted scholar revolt in 1868. Over 3,00,000 people changed to Christianity so Vietnamese killed hundreds of Catholics in the provinces of Ha Tien and Ngu An.
