As per the Charter Act of 1813, the Christian missionaries established primary schools in India and used the regional languages as the medium of instructions.

They initially preferred the mother tongues of the Indian children to make them understand the lessons easily.

However, the missionaries started teaching in English, to make the Indian people well acquainted with this foreign language.

Primary Schools that established by Christian Missionaries in 1813 had followed regional Languages in India as their medium of instruction.

East India Company had brought many welfare measures during their rule in India. They managed education in a well manner as per the Charter Act 1813.  The charter Act 1813 was an Act of the United Kingdom’s Parliament that ended the commercial monopoly of the EIC in India.

It allotted Rs.1,00,000 to promote education in India and also permitted Christian Missionaries to spread Christianity in India.
