• In "The Scarecrow," a man fires his old servant because he is suspected of stealing. One day, while driving out of town, his car runs out of gas. The man observes a scarecrow in a nearby field while waiting. Suddenly, the scarecrow comes to life.

• The elderly servant swears he was never involved in the crime. The astonished man swears that he will never again blame someone without first investigating the facts.
