what was Ned land opinion about the Narwhal and why did he think so? from 20000 leagues under the sea..plz anyone answer ​

Ned doesn’t believe that Narwhal exists. In the story, the discovery shows that the ships have been coming into the ports in the form of a triangle (isosceles). The ships came with tears in their hulls. But Ned doesn’t believe that this is because of Narwhal.

But he claims that this cannot happen because Narwhal cannot penetrate into the iron hull of a ship. He believes that if such an animal exists in the sea, it has to as strong as it was equipped with armoured metal plates to penetrate into an iron hull of a ship, while such an animal with such great power is not discovered yet.
