The first tribe which is the cultural and genetic ancestor of modern day Chinese is the Shang. They gave us the Chinese writing, the sexagenarian calendar (from which was derived the animal zodiac), and China’s first religion which is not primitive shamanism. The Shang believed in many gods [殷人尚鬼]. Interestingly, they believed in a supreme God of the universe. The name of this Supreme God is Di [帝]. One finds this name or title of god in various forms all over the world in Zeus (Greek), Jupiter (Latin), Dio (Italian), Dios (Spanish), Dieu (French), Dev (Hindi), Dia (Irish), Duw (Welsh), etc. All these names likely arose from the Indo-European root dyeu. After Shang rule was usurped by the Zhou tribe, Di lost its status, and the word was eventually taken to mean emperor.
The Zhou tribe believed in a different god, the Sky God known as Tian [天]. Interestingly, this word may have also arisen from the same Indo-European root dyeu, which means bright sky. From this developed deus (Latin for god), dies (Latin for day), Dyaus (Aryan Sky God), and Diana (Greek goddess of the hunt).
Regardless of the gods, the Chinese people always practice ancestor worship. Folk superstition added a lot of flavour to Taoism, otherwise Taosim and Confucianism are atheist beliefs. Taoism believes in following the way of Nature, while Confucianism believes in structure, balance, and harmony. Buddhism, Christianity, and the Islamic faith are imported.

Collapse ...Methyl orange is a pH indicator frequently used in titration because of its clear and distinct color variance at different pH values. Methyl orange shows red color in acidic medium and yellow color in basic medium. Because it changes color at the pKa of a mid strength acid, it is usually used in titration for acids.
