Before Patol Babu joined the English company Hudson and Kimberley, he used to work in a factory. He also used to give stage performances at this time. This made him popular as a stage actor and increased his passion about acting on stage. Most of the time, people bought tickets to the plays he acted in just to have a glimpse of Patol Babu. He was a part of almost all plays and amateur theatricals hosted by the club in Kanchrapara.

He started acting by doing minimal roles. However, he soon became very popular and also received honor for his work on a few occasions. On many occasions, the drama troupe attracted viewers for their plays by printing Patol Babu’s name in bold fonts on their pamphlets.
