Private Quelch was a very knowledgeable man. He was truly focused to his aim. His ambition was to get a commission in the army (a high rank). For fulfilling his dream he did everything he could. He always read many books, studied day and night, borrowed training manuals, did intelligent reading and so on. But the main problem which came into his way was his arrogance. He was very boastful for his knowledge. He tried to showcase his knowledge as much as possible. When the sergeants would be giving lectures, he used to interrupt them in between and also correct them. Many-a-times he had told the lecturers a lecture for how to start a lecture. This is because he wasn't able to fulfil his dream and was given the Permanent cookhouse duties...
