Rowlatt Act was imposed by the Britishers stating that according to it they could arrest anyone on the behalf of doubt for upto 2 years. Indians were not happy about it and started to revolt against it including Mahatma Gandi who started Civil Disobedience Movement against it. Even Britishers tried to suppress the uprisings with vioolence. Martial law was declared by British and any mettings by people were disrupted.
