the teacher felt very surprised when he found the theft. he was very upset because the boy( assistant monitor) who showed him extraordinary faith and favour turned out to be the thief. this made him little sick and fealty guilty for unnecessarydoubting the Gordon boys. he also found something odd in weather and street light although they were normal. this suggests that he was deeply hurt by the theft
