This act was also known as Black Act.

Under this , any Indian leader or revolutionaries could be sent in jail without any trial.

Opposing this act , Rowlatt Satyagraha movement started.

=>In 1917, the governor General Lord Chelmsford appointment a committee under the chairmanship of Justice Sydney rowlatt to investigate the nature and extent of revolutionary activities and to suggest legislation if necessary to deal with them directly.The government passed the Rowlatt act in 1919.The act authorized the government to imprison any person without trial and conviction in a court of law. this act became a rude shock to the Indians.
