Rowlett Acts was a law passed by the then Viceroy of India, Lord Chelmsford. The acts made authorized certain political cases to be heard without a proper tribunal and allowed internment of suspects without trial.  The Act restrained the freedom of expression and increased the powers of police. Therefore, this act faced a great opposition from Indian people, under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Mohammad Ali Jinnah and others.
