Rowlatt act (1919)
• It was passed by Imperial Legislative Council with the support of Indian members. The act gave enormous power to the government to repress political activities and allowed detention of political prisoners without trial for 2 years. On 6th April 1919, Gandhiji launched nationwide Satyagraha against the Rowlatt Act.

Rowlatt Acts, (February 1919), legislation passed by the Imperial Legislative Council, the legislature of British India. The acts allowed certain political cases to be tried without juries and permitted internment of suspects without trial.
