what was satyagraha movement

this movement was done because the viceroy irwin had denied the 11 demand of gandhi. so he begun salt satyagraha. they marched from sbarmathi aashram to dandi. they prepared their own salt and showed to the british.

the British laid a tax on the manufacture of salt in India.tax on such an indispensable commodity was unbearable and unjust so gandhiji on 12 march 1930 along with his 78 followers started to march from a place called dandi.after on 6th April they returned to dandi after covering a distance of 380km.gandhiji became a symbol of defiance against British rule after violating this salt law
