Subsistence crisis is an extream situation where the basic means of livelihood is endangered.
The factors responsible for subsistence crises were:
1)The increases in population from 23 million to 28 million from 1715 to 1789 led to the rapid demand in food grains.
2) As the demand of food grains couldn't keep pace the price increased which the poor people couldn't afford.
