Hi Friend ✋✋✋

1956 Act in Sri Lanka is known as Majoritarianism.

∆ This act was passed to recognise Sinhala as only official language, thus diregarding tamil.

∆ The government followed preferential policies that favoured Sinhala applicants for University position and government jobs.

∆ A new constitution stipulated that the state shall protect and foster Buddhism.

The favours in this act depressed tamilians and later lead to civil war.

Hope it helps
