1) The scheme was launched on the auspicious day of 2nd October, 1993, the birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi all over the country The main objective of the PMRY scheme was to provide easy subsidized financial assistance to educated unemployed youth for starting their own enterprises in manufacturing, business & service .

2) Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana: With an allocation of Rs. 2500 crore, the scheme aims to provide all-weather roads (those roads that can survive all seasons of the year) to rural areas with a population of more than 1000 people in the country and help to increase their connectivity by 2003.
