The Amritsar massacre happened on 10 April. The British government passed the Rowlatt act in 1919. Unhappy with this, Mahatma Gandhi started a civil disobedience movement, which started with a hartal. Gandhi was banned from entering Delhi. In 10 April, the police fired upon a peaceful procession in Amritsar. After this, the infamous Jallianwala Bagh Massacre took place.
