Newland proposed the Newland's law of octaves.
He arranged the elements in such a manner that:
In ascending order of their atomic mass every eighth element had properties similar to the first one.
Just like the eighth note of musical octave is similar to the first.
Due to this comparison his theory is called as Newland's law of octaves.
