The news of the Boston Tea Party reached London, England on January 20, 1774, and as a result the British shut down Boston Harbor until all of the 340 chests of British East India Company tea were paid for. This was implemented under the 1774 Intolerable Acts and known as the Boston Port Act.

Boston tea Party

Explanation:

  • It is a violent demonstration in 1773 by American colonists before the American Revolution. Colonists boarded vessels in Boston harbor and threw the cargoes of tea into the water in protest at the imposition of a tax on tea by the British Parliament, in which the colonists had no representation. This event is famous in history as the Boston tea party.
  • The main effect of the incident was that it resulted in the death of five colonists. It provoked the Colonists to fight for their independence.
