anne and marilla decide to hv the allans for tea. anne asks marilla that could she bake a layer cake, and marilla permits her. allans had to come on wednesday. the day came, anne had made the layer cake that mrng. after the other meals, mrs.allan took the piece of that layer cake, and when she ate it, a sudden expression crossed her face. but she ate it without saying anything. when marilla ate it,, she asked anne what had she put into that cake. anne said that vanilla flavor. marilla asked her to bring the bottle of it and when she brought, marilla said that it was her(marila) mistake. she had put anodyne liniment in that bottle.

this made anne very hurt that she didnt make a good cake. later mrs. allan showed sympathy to her and encouraged that it wasnt her mistake,
