hitler shot himself when he heard the russians were coming. he ordered his man to pour gasoline on him and burn the corpse so he could not be identified or mutilated.

It is believed that Hitler committed suicide by gunshot on 30 April, 1945 in his Fuhrer bunker in Berlin. In accordance to his prior instructions, his body was carried up the stairs through the bunker's emergency exit and doused with petrol and set alight in the Reich Chancellery garden outside the bunker. Some people say that he died by poison only while some say that he died by a self-inflicted gun shot while biting down a cyanide capsule.
