Matilda borrowed a marvellous diamond necklace from her friend to wear to attend the ball.

Unfortunately She lost the necklace in the ball, they had to replace it at any cost ,so her husband bought a diamond necklace of worth thirty six thousand dollars.

It ruined their life they turned poor and lost all of their hopes to live a happy life, as they bought the diamond necklace for 36,000 dollars by loan .They spent 10 years to pay the loan .

Matilda could have avoided it by apologising to Madame Forestier that she lost her necklace.
