Chipko development was begun in uttarakhand for sparing the indiscriminate chopping down of trees.

In the 1970s, a sorted out protection from the demolition of timberland spread all through India and came to be known as the Chipko development.

The name of the development originates from the word 'grasp', as the villagers embraced the trees, and kept the temporary workers' from felling them.

✔️✔️✨ HERE IS YOUR ANSWER....

✔️✔️The CHIPKO ANDOLAN (Hug the trees movement) was the result of a grassroot level effort to end the alienation of people from their forests. The movement originated from an incident in a remote Village called Reni in Garhwal, high up in the Himalayas during the early 1970s. There was a dispute between the local villagers and logging contractor who had been all to cut trees near to the village. One day when the men folk were absent, the contractors workers came to cut the trees. The women of the village reached the forest and hugged the trees to prevented the workers from cutting the trees. Thus the contractor had to withdraw. This was the cause of CHIPKO ANDOLAN.
