The Aryan peoples that moved into India in the second millennium BCE described themselves as “wheat colored people” suggesting that they probably looked somewhat Middle Eastern, not some kind of proto-Caucasian Nordic type like the Nazis imagined. Other posters suggest modern Iranians probably resemble these ancient people, and that is probably a good guess.
It is probably true that these Aryan peoples were generally lighter skinned than the Dravidian peoples living in India at the time. The development of the Indian caste system was based upon varna which is commonly translated (at least in standard history books) as color. Many people dispute this, but it does seem likely that at least the early development of castes in India was affected by the lighter skinned and dominant invaders occupying the higher social categories.
Obviously, such differences diminished or were effectively erased over the centuries, long before modern times.
