After British managed to capture India thru deceit, manipulation and war with Indian Principalities, first sign of formal revolt came in when in Meerut, Army cops revolted against their superiors. This had become full fledged revolt under weak leadership of Mughal emperor. The British called it Mutiny and Indian historians called it first war of Independence.

The Indian National Congress which was established in in 1885. It was founded by Allan Octavian Hume. It was a platform created for Indian to obtain greater share of Government .It enabled Indians to seek favour from Government for better representation in Government service and other benefits
