i. sepoys were dismissed from service amd sentence to ten years in jail for disobaying their officers of opening the cartridges which were coated with the fats of cow and pig.

ii. they had gradually lost their authority and honoir

during the revolt ...

on 10 may , soldiers marched to tge jail in meerut and released the imprisonment sepoys . they attacked and kill the british officers.. they captured guns and ammunition amd killed set fire to the building and properties of determined to bring and declared war on firangis.

ii. they forced their way into the palace and proclaimed bahadur shah jafar as their leader.

iii. he wrotr letters to all the chiefs and rulers of the country to come forward and organise a company of indian state to fight the british.

iv. many of the kings felt that if the mughal emperor could rule again , they too would be able to rule again on their territories once more under mugal authority..

v. it gives them the courage hope and confidence to act ....
