Answer:

Explanation: due to majoritarianism, the srilankan Tamils felt alienated and relations between Sinhalese and Tamils strained over time. Tamils started to fight for their rights by forming parties and launching struggles for recognition of Tamil as an official language, for regional autonomy and equality of opportunity in securing education and jobs . But their demand for more autonomy to provinces populated by Tamils was repeatedly denied. By 1980s several political organisations were formed demanding an independent Tamil Eelam (state) in north eastern srilanka.the distrust between the two communities turned into widespread conflict and ultimately into a civil war between LTTE(liberation tigers of Tamil Eelam ) and government, killing over 70,000 people.

Hope this helps!!!!!!
