Answer:
It were mainly the British Orientalists who promoted ancient Indian literary texts. William Jones,Henry Thomas colebrook and Nathaniel Halhed studied indian texts on law, philosophy, politics, morality, arithmetic and medicine. They translated all the texts into English so that the world can get a glimpse of the Indian literature. They believed that the dicovery and translation of the ancient Indian texts will lead to the discovery of the lost glories of the ancient Indian texts and would help the British to rule Indian's effectively.
