Dhyanchand has been the greatest hockey player not only in India but also in the world. A hockey player like him has not happened in the world till date. He is also known as the 'wizard of hockey'. He scored over 1000 goals throughout his Hockey career.

Dhyanchand has contributed the most when Indian hockey was in its golden era. Dhyanchand has been a member of the Indian hockey team winning the Olympic gold medal three times. In which the Olympics of 1924, 1932 and 1936 are played.  The Indian hockey team has won the Olympic gold medal 8 times.

Dhyanchand was born on 29 August 1905 in Allahabad and later his family shifted to Jhansi. Dhyanchand's birthday is celebrated as 'National Sports Day' in India. His younger brother Roop Singh also achieved remarkable success in hockey and the two brothers continued to flourish during the golden era of Indian hockey.

Hitler once invited him to join the German team after seeing his hockey feat, but Dhyanchand turned down the offer and said that he loves his India, he cannot leave his country.
