ANTOINE LAVOISIER ---> was a French nobleman and chemist in the 18th century chemical revolution, and he had a large influence both on the History of Chemistry and the History of Biology.
He 's the "Father of Modern Chemistry"
He is most noted for his discovery of the role oxygen plays in combustion.
He was also the one who helped construct the Metric System.
He wrote the first extensive List of Elements, and helped to reform Chemical Nomenclature.
He also predicted the existence of SILICON in the year 1787.
He also the first to establish that SULFUR was an element in 1777 rather than compound.
