Dual Goverment means that when the nawab had all the responsibility but no power and the Britishers had all the powers but bo responsibilties...

rs96980p036mc: After the battle of buxar in 1764, Lord Clive introduced dual government in Bengal in which the responsiblity of administration was given to Nawab and Miltary and revenue affairs were kept by the English .

In 1772, Lord Warren Hastings ended this policy as it was responsible for the great famine of 1769–70 in bengal which literally cleared 1/3rd population of Bengal .
