Answer:The estates general was a political body in France of Old Regime, in which discussions were held, by the king and representatives of all the three estates, on proposals for new taxes. On 5th may,1789 Louis XVI called together an assembly of the estates general (It was last held in 1614)to pass proposals for new taxes.
