Samudragupta's empire extended from the east in to the west in Delhi and also from the north in the Himalayas to the south in Narmada. The vassal states were also under his control indirectly.
- Samudragupta ascended the throne in 335 CE, after his father Chandragupta I's death and ruled for 45 years. He initially conquered the Padmavati and Ahichchhatra kingdoms and then went on to attack the neighboring region. Samudragupta expanded the political power of the Gupta dynasty.
- He greatly helped the Gupta empire to flourish and rule over a vast empire. Samudragupta successfully conquered over 20 kingdoms by 380 CE. He managed to widely expand the Gupta empire from the West in Ravi River to the east in Brahmaputa River; from the south of Himalayan foothills to the central India of Narmada River, and also from the Brahmaputra River which cuts through four Asian nations to the Yamuna.
