Probably, peshwa Nanasaheb spent his last years in the forests of Nepal and was killed by a tiger in around 1861. But that is believed to be false by some as they say he traveled and lived in the small village of sihore (Gujarat) and died in around 1902. Whatever the truth maybe but the fact that a king who once ruled half of the country and had around 50 million subjects had to live in disguise in a forest for the terrible sin he had committed of trying to free his countrymen from a foreign rule through the rebellion of 1857 was a sad thing.

he Mughals already lost all their glory after Aurangzeb and hit rock bottom during the times of Maratha's.

Bahadur Shah Zafar was already a frail old man who was merely a figure head. He joined the 1857 uprising against the British in the hopes of keeping his independence. As soon as the 1857 uprising was crushed by the British, the British felt that deporting him from India would effectively give them control over Delhi and all of Northern India.

Post the war, the British forces worked out the details and sent to arrest the Mughal Emperor and his family and deport them to Rangoon (.

Bahadur Shah Zafar died as a sick man who had to be force fed until his dying days.

So to your question, who killed him. No one. He died due to old age.

Did the British contribute in speeding up his death? They did.
