The first continent was PANGEA which was actually a big piece of landmass which dissociated into smaller present continents. prove that PANGEA had existed is that all the present landmasses can joined like a JIGSAW PUZZLE to form a single piece. Formation of smaller continents were caused due to the plate movements.
