In terms of scientifically recorded discovery and separation from compounds and identification as an element, Phosphorus is the first element.  Discovered in 1669 By Brandt in the laboratory. Prepared from Urine.

In terms of mining, crafting, using for various domestic purposes, copper was discovered by human beings thousands of years ago BCE. Later Lead and Iron were also discovered and were used.
